the studio.

I have been wanting to take studio pics FOR SO LONG. But it was just one of those things that kept getting put on the back burner. I love my studio so much. It’s out of my home in Bluffdale, Utah. It’s my own little getaway where I can just escape and it’s just me and those sweet little newborns (for better or worse) haha! Just going in there makes me happy though. It’s so beautiful. I have the most gorgeous selection of props sourced from vendors all over the world. You never have to worry about bringing a thing for your newborn session. Diapers and wipes fully stocked. My husband is so dang handy and built my shelving unit and ladders that hold all of my wraps. I have such a large selection of headbands, bonnets and props. It’s always heated to the perfect temperature to keep your sweet babies comfortable. Every session is styled especially for you based off of a questionnaire you fill out upon booking. I hope you love it as much as I do.

    Education | Utah Newborn Photography

I’ve been getting asked a lot lately if I mentor for newborn photography in Utah. Which is funny to me because I feel like I’m finally actually starting to figure this newborn photography thing out. 🙂 It is flattering though. I never hate the messages by any means. I will definitely say finding a mentor was crucial throughout my photography journey. I’ve had quite a few along the way. I’ve taken video workshops from Keri Meyers Photography as well as Kelly Brown with Little Pieces Photography. I’ve mentored with Nicole from Charlie & Violet in Minnesota and grew so much through that experience. Recently I did live online workshops with Nikki Crinity Photography and can’t say enough about her and the information she provides in those. I’m always continuing my education in photography so I can grow in my craft and better serve my clients. And I encourage those that are trying to do the same, to seek out a mentor or find online workshops to do that. I might mentor someday when I don’t have little kids at home all day and can dedicate more time to it. But for now I’ll continue learning and getting better. Check out this sweet little honey. She hated me but guess what? I still win because look at these images. Mom and dad are going to love these for years to come. What an investment for their family. Congratulations on your sweet baby girl!

My favorite kind of newborn session

If there’s one kind of newborn session I love the most, it’s the ones I get to do for my own family. Meet my newest niece Gracie. She was such a good baby for her session. Barely made a single peep the entire time. People always think being a newborn photographer is the best because we get to snuggle babies all day. Part of that is true. Being a newborn photographer is the best, but we really don’t get to snuggle babies that much if you can believe it. We spend our hours posing and wrapping baby and really try not to pick them up as much as possible so we can get them into all those cute poses. It takes a lot of patience to be a newborn photographer. I’m not sure where my patience comes from because I have none of it with my own children but I will be as patient as I have to be to get froggy pose. Haha! I’m just so happy I get to snuggle this one as often as I want!

Little bit of this, little bit of that

I get to meet so many wonderful people in my job. But the absolute best is getting to photograph the people I already know. The ones I’m rooting for. I’ve known Terah for a few years through a mutual friend and she is a gem. Their story is truly inspiring. After years of infertility, 2 miscarriages, and 2 rounds of IVF they conceived but were shocked when Indy Llew was born with Down Syndrome. Not even a few years later Indy was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of cancer that affects the cells of the bone marrow very similar to leukemia. Terah is so knowledgable in holistic living and uses what she knows through that, as well as formal training as a nurse practitioner, to keep her family healthy and help Indy continue to grow and thrive. As they adjusted to life they were shocked to find out that they were expecting miracle baby girl #2. I was ecstatic for them when I read her post. True joy. This is what I live for. Capturing these sweet moments for families is pure joy to me. Sweet Birdy was such a delight to photograph. The daintiest little honey. Go check out Terah’s blog, Sunshine & Sustenence

I love neutrals for newborn sessions but I love color just as much. Which is your favorite?

Earthy Newborn Session | South Jordan Utah Photographer

I’m loving how all these Earthy colors came together for Baby Leo’s newborn session. Mama requested tans, light blues, creams and burnt orange. Love when I get an out of the box request. Leo wasn’t a big fan of the modeling life but his pictures turned out so dang amazing and his open eye shots are just the cutest. I would finally get the cute little guy sleeping, take a picture, and he would open his eyes up again, look at my flash and proceed to look around for the next 10 minutes. Repeat x200. Haha! His eye contact was amazing though and those shots ended up being my favorite ones of all.
